Although Egypt’s rate of population growth has dropped in recent years
(it stood at 1.72 percent in 2007), it is still overcrowded, because many
parts of the country are uninhabitable. There is a direct correlation
between education and lower birthrates, and as more and more girls
continue to attend school, Egypt’s growth rate should continue to decline.
